I'm happy to help you again! Here's a trimmer cap for my old 40V Kobalt lawn trimmer. The original one had given up due to wear and tear, its metal parts having punched into the string housing, making removal increasingly tricky. As I live in Canada, buying caps here is a challenge since Lowes doesn't carry them. I decided to tackle this project as part of my Fusion360 training and an opportunity to test out my Ender3 3D printer. If you're looking to try one of these on your trimmer, be cautious with the spring tabs made from PLA - they can be brittle and prone to breaking. The flexible plastic used by Kobalt is difficult to replicate exactly in printed form. To my relief, the cap fit my trimmer perfectly. However, during reinstallation, one of the tabs failed under stress. In a bid to improve durability, I've since printed a new one using TPU material. Initially, it seemed too soft, but so far, it's working amazingly well and showing signs of being virtually indestructible.
