To use them effectively: Increase the angle of attack by adding a shim, and you'll notice a significant reduction in speed due to increased drag. However, this configuration provides exceptional pitch stability, making it ideal for racing or high-performance maneuvers. Conversely, using a smaller angle of attack results in minimal drag, allowing your board to reach incredible speeds and perform agile foiling. However, this setup may compromise stability, making it more challenging for beginners to maintain control. If you're using the original 2017 freeride wing model with an approximate angle of attack of 0.5 degrees, you may find it unstable. In such cases, a shim with a slightly higher angle of attack, around 2.0 degrees, can be a good starting point for foil beginners looking to improve their overall experience and stability.
