Trilobite articulatum
thingiverse
Assemble and print an articulated Trilobite model with this 3D design. Unlike museum fossils, this Trilobite flexes, rolls, and makes a clacking sound when its segments are rippled. Create smaller body sections to make baby Trilobites, or combine them for whole families or armies. This inquisitive creature is often seen peering over people's shoulders. Check out the video by Jasonwebb showing it in motion, and 3D printing videos by Busybotz. Consider designing alternative body, head, and tail features with spikes and plates. For more information on Trilobites, read Richard Fortey's book "Trilobite! - Eyewitness to Evolution" or visit trilobites.info. Print the Trilobite Head 2, Tail, and two lots of Body (eight body segments arranged in a row) with 20% infill and two shells. No raft is needed for any part except the head's pegs. Different colors may affect joint tightness. Assemble by clipping the parts together in size order, starting with the tail and largest body part. Individual body parts are also available in a separate ZIP file, and STEP and Parasolid versions of the whole Trilobite are included for further customization.
