I developed this straightforward rule to give students a pocket-sized tool that helps them recognize fundamental trigonometric properties in class, and also allows them to use it as a compass for drawing circles. SOH CAH TOA stands for: SOH means Sine equals Opposite over Hypotenuse. CAH means Cosine equals Adjacent over Hypotenuse. TOA means Tangent equals Opposite over Adjacent.
