Tricopter Yaw Mechanism Motor Mount
thingiverse
This yaw control mechanism is tailored for use with a bell type motor, such as the DT750 or 850 motors, paired with a 9 gram servo. The hinge hole measures 4mm and was formed using an old nail whose end had been carefully chopped off. A dab of glue applied to the last hole has thus far held strong. The photo shows an earlier prototype that proved itself well during flight until it unfortunately made contact with a tree while performing slaloms. Nonetheless, I continue to fly the version currently uploaded here. Ultimately, my plan is to modify the motor mount for use with standard four-screw x mount motors, but the source files are available if anyone wishes to try implementing the changes themselves. Printing Requirements: The part was printed in ABS using a .2 layer height setting, 75% infill density, and two shells of material. However, the main assembly requires both raft support during the printing process to ensure proper attachment to the arm, as well as support features for a stable print orientation, likely vertical in most cases; although you might possibly achieve an acceptable print with an angled servo setup that needs further testing before confirming suitability. The motor mount alone was printed using the standard print settings but without a raft, which also facilitated a support-free process.
