Tricopter 250 Class
thingiverse
This is a highly customizable 250 class Tricopter designed to use an advanced Multiwii board with a state-of-the-art atmega328 processor at its core. The lightweight yet sturdy arms of this tricopter are cleverly designed to fold back effortlessly, making transportation and crash protection effortless feats. Instead of snapping under the strain, these versatile arms elegantly retreat when not in use. The precision-engineered yaw hinge boasts an impressive four bearings that guarantee a silky smooth operation while also withstanding considerable force. Strategically placed is a dedicated mount for a sleek Mobius camera, perfectly poised to capture breathtaking aerial photographs; though FPV functionality has yet to be thoroughly tested. To optimize motor performance, the reliable Turnigy 12 amp ESCs are thoughtfully attached via zip ties on the sides of the frame, carefully aligned within purpose-built indents in the body plates for utmost stability. The design takes into account weight reduction, thus opting for lightweight M3 nylon screws throughout; albeit metal screws were required for reinforced arm hinges to guarantee durability and strength. Despite this configuration, flying performance remains unaffected. The concept involves incorporating Ninjaflex material into attachment points between body plates, camera plates, and the Multiwii board to achieve enhanced vibration dampening; though practical applications of such remain unexplored due to redundancy in other features. Propellers employed are high-performance plastic 5030 units but users may opt for six-inch alternatives, provided adjustments are made to accommodate rear arm elongation for secure fitting. Batteries powering the device can be chosen between the compact Turnigy Nano-Tech 1.5Ah or a more generous 1.8Ah model, each offering a battery life of ten and fifteen minutes respectively.
