DescriptionThe Tribune Tower is a 462ft (141m) tall skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois. It was built in 1925 as the main offices of the Chicago Tribune newspaper. Its design famously came from a competition that attracted submissions from architects across the world. This is the winning design by John Mead Howells and Raymond Hood that went on to become one of Chicago's most famous and cherished buildings. It combines elements of both art deco and gothic architecture, featuring flying buttresses reminiscent of old cathedrals in its ornate crown. Just north of the Michigan Avenue Bridge, the Tribune Tower stands prominently over Pioneer Court, one of the city's most scenic spots. People passing by the ground floor windows can peer in to watch radio personalities broadcast live on WGN News. In recent years, the Chicago Tribune has vacated its long-time home and the building is being converted to luxury residential. Current plans entail minor additions to the lowrise portion attached to Tribune Tower (not included in model) and potentially a supertall skyscraper that will occupy what is currently a parking lot directly East of the building.chicagoskyscraperhighrisearchitectureillinoiscitygothicart decotribunetowerskylinebuildingminiatureschicago citychicago skylinecity buildingcity skyline
