Triangle Labs Filament Runout Sensor Mount For Ender 3
prusaprinters

I designed this mounting bracket to hold a Triangle Labs filament runout sensor on the top extrusion of an Ender 3.

I previously had a BTT smart filament sensor on this printer but decided to move it to my Voron V2 and replace it with a simple sensor from Triangle Labs. The spool mounting hasn't changed from my previous sensor so you can look there for the spool mounting bracket.

Hardware Required

M3 x 12mm bolt (top of filament sensor)

M3 x 20mm bolt (bottom of filament sensor)

2x M3 washers (bolts through filament sensor)

M3 x 10mm bolt (top of bracket)

2x M3 hammerhead nuts (top of bracket and bottom of sensor)

M3 x 4mm x5mm heatset insert (top of filament sensor)

Alternate version uses an M3 nut and a longer bolt (16-20mm) on the top in place of the heatset insert.

Printing Instructions

Print part flat on bed, no supports needed.

3 walls 20% infill should be fine.

Installation

Inset the heatset insert with a soldering iron

Attach the filament sensor to the bracket

Place the hammerhead nut on the rear bolt and slide onto top extrusion

Slide a hammerhead nut under the bracket and insert top bracket bolt

Tighten the bolts into hammerhead nuts

Wire up the runout sensor and configure in marlin/klipper following documentation for the sensor/mainboard/firmware
