Triangle Explorer

Triangle Explorer

thingiverse

Designed by a geometry teacher, this simple tool addresses the challenge of using Geometry SketchPad for visually impaired students. It employs three printouts, bolts, and wing nuts to enable adjustments in side and angle measurements. The tactile measurement guides offer immediate feedback to users. In version 2.0, the designer imagines adapting bolt holes to hold magnets or pushpins for added functionality as a compass. Made with minimal settings, the model is being improved with additional washers to prevent over-tightening of wing nuts. A heavier duty version can be created by layering two tools back-to-back, with hex grooves facing outward. The teacher plans to share updates and refinements as they continue learning and improving the tool's design.
