Tri-Skid Air Snow (RODAM)
thingiverse
!!! UPDATE 2020-03-12 !!! Here's the link to the new design, as I don't have time to finish it right now. I'm providing you with the steps file and the Fusion 360 file of the project. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4217799 ------------------------------------------------------------- The remix of this project is progressing slowly but surely. Here's a little taste in the picture section. I think it will be easier to assemble and involve slightly fewer parts, following the KISS principle (Keep It Simple & Stupid). BTW: The new version will be a new project on Thingiverse. I'll post the link here when it's ready. !!! ATTENTION !!! Update 2019-03-08 I had to get away from this design to avoid overthinking it. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to record any videos of my tests because my camera was dead. However, I realized three things: 1. The skis are not large enough. 2. I may need to increase the space between the tow skis in the back because the thing is flipping on its side too easily when you turn. 3. The 5" propeller might be too small; the thing starts moving only at 50% throttle. I'll post the larger ski files soon and come up with some corrections for a larger version without completely redoing all parts. Thanks for your patience! ;-) Update 2019-01-15 I forgot to include the ski files (thanks, wdillon!). You can use either the R or L ski for the front. I also made some changes to the Long body file for V3.2 - it's now less tight with the motor firewall. UPDATE 2019-02-12 OK!!! Sorry for the drastic change in the file, but I don't want people to get confused between old and new files. So any parts that have a new version and modification will be replaced. The goal is to have only the last version of every part. But I'll make updates whenever I make changes. So now you have all the parts for the full thing - THE AIR TRI-SKI! I know it's not the most elegant name, but that's what I came up with! The low and upper arms are reversible, so just print two of each. The only part I didn't print is the long body; I did print everything else, and they should all fit together with a bit of sanding and reworking with drill bits for the holes. The list of hardware isn't complete yet, but you'll need 30mm screws for the rear suspension arms and 40mm screws for the front fork. I got this kit from Amazon to finish the project. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01N3YT1OZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Update 2019-01-06 I made some modifications to the arms - they're a bit larger for a better fit with the bolts. I also added the motor firewall with lock parts, and I'm still figuring out the front direction. Here's a small video on how to mount the kit: Next step is finishing the front direction and then making a list of hardware. https://youtu.be/xh_42UW_cuU Update 2018-12-28 I just added version 3.2 of the ski, attach, and lower arm system with stronger mounting. I also deleted all the old files to keep things tidy. This is a project I've been working on - making a snowmobile with three skis, propelled by a 2206 brushless motor with a 5' propeller. My goal is to make it very simple: suspension with only elastic bands. You'll need a 2206 motor with an ESC, a servo for front direction, and screws... that's it! And of course, you'll need to 3D print the parts! I'll update this project every time I can. The process may be long, but if someone wants to get involved, go ahead! I work in Fusion 360; I'm new to 3D design, so please be gentle with me ;-) <a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/">Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License</a>
