The Tang Tri-colored pottery was created over 1300 years ago during the Tang dynasty. The horses' bodies are entirely coated with a yellow-brown glaze; their saddles, bridles, and saddle blankets are green-glazed; and their manes retain a white glaze. Horses were the primary mode of transportation in the Tang era and were also influenced by the societal spirit of martial valor, leading to a trend among the upper class of horse breeding and caring for prestigious horses. The Tri-colored Horses have become an important collection at the National History Museum.
