Trent 900 - Jet Engine

The Rolls-Royce Trent 900 is a three-spool jet engine powering the largest passenger aircraft in the world, the Airbus A380. This design was based on Chris Shakal's superb CAD model, which I re-designed to require support from only one part. Most parts were printed with a 0.15mm layer thickness, but you can choose your own. I selected this thickness because it strikes a good balance between speed and details. The walls were also optimized for a 0.4mm nozzle, ensuring that no walls would be too thin to print. The key feature of this engine is its electric motor power and planetary gears connecting the spools. Although it seemed more interesting to me, the spools do not rotate in realistic order. I hope you enjoy printing this as much as I did. Update: Initially, a 12V/500RPM motor was installed, but it proved too weak. A new 12V/100RPM motor has been ordered, which will have slightly longer gearbox length and may require an updated motor mount. I'll post another update when the new motor arrives. Please let me know if any files are missing as there have been issues with file uploads to Thingiverse. The fan casing files were re-uploaded due to feedback that slicing might be problematic. A revised drawing was also posted, adding a bearing 6700ZZ view and correcting the motor mounting screw to M3x4mm. Updated lengths of aluminum rods were added to the main drawing. With these changes, a 12V/100RPM motor can be installed without modifications, as it has proven to work better than the original 500RPM motor due to its increased torque. When Thingiverse updated their interface, text issues arose. To address this, two files titled "Instructions.pdf" were added, containing all material links and information.
