Trench 2 (mid way through excavations)
sketchfab
Trench 2, measuring 2.00 meters by 2.00 meters, was strategically positioned just a few meters south of Trench 1 to conduct further excavations. This decision was based on the presence of two massive stone blocks, which matched the dimensions of the Illyrian masonry style, potentially signifying the top of a buried wall. As the excavation progresses halfway through its phase, it has become evident that most of the buried materials date back to when Kala was abandoned as a settlement. The excavated soil is remarkably rich in artifacts from the early 20th century, with no signs of slowing down. This trend can be seen in the multiple layers visible in the area. The image provided is a low-resolution representation of the models utilized by the project for archaeological research purposes. Higher-quality versions of these models are available upon request for those interested in furthering their understanding of this significant site.
