Trench 1 (1.00 m x 1.50 m) was excavated to determine if the wall identified by Hammond as Illyrian would continue across the plateau or Kala. It was also hoped that some datable material could be unearthed to validate Hammond's hypothesis. At this stage, it appears evident that the wall is not particularly ancient and features large voids beneath it. This indicates that the foundations rest atop rubble, rendering the wall incapable of supporting significant weight. View additional layers here.
