Trellis Planter

Trellis Planter

To add character to our patio, I constructed eight cedar boxes with 4x6" log bases connected by metal channels. The bottom features screen, river rock, and top soil with a drip system. To prevent drainage issues, I added bolts at the base as feet. Due to freezing nights in Colorado, vines haven't bloomed yet; however, high winds caused some boxes to shift or tip over. To secure them, I connected the boxes using 2x4 cedar boards at the top and cleats at the bottom. In a recent windstorm of 90mph+, none of the boxes moved, demonstrating their weight (approximately 250lbs). Additionally, we had to remove glass from our table due to strong winds. For those skilled in SolidWorks, all lumber specifications are available in a single parts file using configurations, which helps manage multiple designs efficiently. A larger view of the backyard is also provided through an image link.
