Trefoil Knot Base (for Version 03)

Trefoil Knot Base (for Version 03)

This base (or stand) was made for the trefoil knot listed under remix. While the knot does not actually require a stand, I thought that a support to hold the knot is an interesting display position would be an nice addition.

To use the stand, assemble the two “grips” as shown in the photos - note that the knot is not symmetrical so the grips will only go on properly in one orientation (the top ends of the grips will be closest together in the “right” orientation). With the grips positioned on the knot, insert the cylindrical bottom of the combined grips into the socket in the base.

The OnShape 3D CAD files here :

https://cad.onshape.com/documents/f36468084e28f8df8fa36937/w/4ddd1ec94fcc3fbe8bf684cd/e/e203757048166706b080d91a

Print Instructions

I printed version 03 of my trefoil knot at 70% scale, so the gcode and 3mf files given here are also scaled to 70% (but the STL file is 100%). If you have printed the trefoil knot at a different scale, you will of course have to scale the base/stand files accordingly.

I printed the base/stand in transparent PLA (see photo).

If you are printing at 70% scale, you can use the gcode or 3mf files listed here, with these general parameters :

10% rectilinear infill

concentric top and bottom fill patterns

Elephant foot compensation 0.3mm

For the related Trefoil Knot Version03 files see the remix.
