Tree Topper - illuminated Star of David
pinshape
Another in the multi-cultural holiday ornament series to top your tree or bush with a glowing flourish. Instructions: There are two parts, the lighting element is optional. The star features a hollow core which will directly slip over the top branch. If you don't add lighting that's it. If you choose to illuminate, use standard 9V LED strip lighting (available on Amazon). Cut to size and fold in half. Print the 9V battery holder assembly (which will clip to the base of star). Prepare the snap-on 9v battery connector (available at Radio Shack) by adding longer leads and either soldering to LED strip or use a snap connector. (A switch could be added if desired.) Insert the battery into the holder assembly then slip the strip into the Star core sideways so the lighting illuminates both sides. Slide the star into the Battery holder (the shorter clip) then slide the entire assembly over tree top the longer clip. Print at 0.25 layer height (or better) with translucent PLA or I expect white ABS would work. Fills should not be greater than 10% for best illumination. Turn on Vince Guaraldi's "Christmas Time is Here" and enjoy a potato latke. Files are on Tinkercad.
