Initially, we faced issues with our Christmas tree stars' mounts. The first one cracked, and the second lacked a mount altogether. Finally, a third top arrived with an excessively large mount. However, all three tops used a 5/16" (8mm) rod for attachment. To solve this problem, we found a helpful adapter - one end has an 8mm hole for the tree top and is slightly tapered to account for rod diameter variations and tighten well when pressing the top in. The other end features a conical hole, expanding from 8mm (5/16") to 15mm (9/16"), which fits onto the tree with a flexible cut for added elasticity.
