The Landsvaetir tree of life is a representation of Shaman Inwe, mother of Imembui. Myths indicate that when Inwe was called to walk among the stars (as the Landsvaetir refer to death), shortly after giving birth to Imembui, the Ataentsic Goddess herself came down from the moon and turned her into a tree so that she could watch her daughter grow, without interfering with the natural course of life. As a result, the rivers and lakes of the region began to flow again and this made the Landsvaetir increasingly learn to live in a simple and peaceful way. Landsvaetir are a tribal people, who live in the Vinkal Forest, in communion with nature, and do not usually have contact with other peoples.
