Trebuchet Business Card - Trebucard
thingiverse
The Trebucard is a mini trebuchet designed for firing jumbo paper clips. It measures the size of a business card and employs 16 pennies as counter-weights. Uniquely, this device uses the surface it rests on as its pivot instead of a frame. A demonstration video is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6SAxqjxHYk. An optimized version, launching farther yet more fragile, will be posted soon without requiring tape to join the pennies. Instructions for making, operating, and non-video step-by-step guides are available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlyutldS_44 and http://www.instructables.com/id/Trebuchet-business-card-Trebucard/ respectively. The Trebucard template is made of sturdy material such as poster-board or thin cardboard, commonly used for product packaging. Folds are indicated by dotted lines that do not require cutting. To create counter-weights, stack 8 pennies and wrap them with tape; two counterweights are needed per card. If US pennies are unavailable, other small coins can be used, just ensure they fit snugly in the designated cutouts.
