prusaprinters

This is a drawer tray to hold the Starrett No. S579H telescoping gauge set. It's intended to sit in a shallow drawer in your toolchest or machinist's chest, so it's a clean tray without lid or stacking features.

For easy remix, you can grab the OnShape CAD file here: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/239f69e55b443c585910ef6d/w/20dba3ab6fdd0a7e2d37291c/e/201e510a9af2c178635b0e8a

The CAD is fully parameterized, so you should be able to tune it for your Mitutoyo or generic gauge set without having to actually mess with the sketches.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

I3 MK3S

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.20 mm

Infill:

15%

Filament: Overture PETG

How I Designed This

This is a normal tray design where the tools are modeled as individual parts. The tray block is then created as a separate part and the tools are subtracted from the the tray block to make the recesses.

In OnShape the subtraction causes the tool parts to actually disappear, so to edit them you have to back up in the timeline.

There are individual parameters for the gauge crossbar length/diam and handle length/diam, grouped into a folder for each tool.

At the end, the part is exported as a downloaded STL and brought into the slicer.
