Tray for Harbor Freight Metric Hex 9 pcs Socket Set
thingiverse
This is a relatively simple idea - socket tray that form fits the sockets! In this design, the three stages of the hex sockets from the standard harbor freight 9 pcs set (item 67880) are removed from a block to provide a snug fitting tray that will help you keep your sockets organized! If you choose to print as is, the .GCODE attached was generated for the Creality Ender 3, with .4 nozzle and "fast" settings. If you wish to make your own customization, or to slice for a different printer, please use the attached .SCAD file in OpenScad. It should be relatively simple to customize for different socket sets - just change the array of dimensions at in the middle of the file. There is a neat algorithm to render each socket in a different color, and also a interesting recursive function to calculate the cumulative offset needed for layout purposes. This is the bane of many OpenScad users, and I would like to acknowledge code by Russel Stouts whose solution in his parametrized SCAD socket tray (which I can't find anymore on this site, but which is also remixed here at thing # 5219283) put me on the right track to dealing with the lame-o limitations of a "declarative" language like OpenScad, which cannot store a running total without use of recursion apparently.
