Traxxas X Maxx Motor Cooling, 6025 Fan Mount
prusaprinters

Why?

I never understood why the RC community loves to use 4010 fan and cranks them up to crazy RPM just to provide some cooling, additionally for us bashers, they are of no use, since those tiny wings tend to break quite early.

Features:

More powerful & stable 6025 5V fans to use

Can be used with the standard cooling body on the stock 1250KV motor

Can be used with custom motor mounts (like the JS Parts mounts in Germany)

Can be used with lower KV / bigger motor cans (my 1100KV fits without problems)

Most important: way more silent with stronger cooling (my 1100KV never got hot, even in long high speed sessions in summer, with a super silent Noctua 6025, 5V fan)

Requirements:

The mount is intended to be used with heat inserts

Weld in M4 heat inserts of your choice into the base of the Fan Case (I use M4x4x6 https://amzn.eu/d/0Q4ZeFU )

Glue the XMaxx rod adapter to the part of the fan case where the cable ties penetrate the base plate, be cautious that the channels of the cable ties still align properly.

Remove the M3 screws from the XMaxx stabilizing rods on each side, they can be used to fix the fan case, ideally you wanna use slightly longer screws (see photographs)

Insert the 6025 fan of you choice

Secure the fan guard, the fan and the case all the way through with M4x35mm cap head screws, this will produce a very tight and stable fitting that stabilizes the whole construction.

Fix the whole construction to the XMaxx posterior stabilizing rods using the M3 screws mentioned, additionally fix it to the rods anteriorly using cable ties.

Printing is recommended using ABS / ASA / Nylon or a hard 98A TPU of your choice (my favourite material, stable as hell, never breaks and dampenes some of your driving failures…)

Hope you like it! Go out bashing and have some fun… :-)
