Traxxas TRX-4 Larger Electronics Box
thingiverse
The Traxxas TRX-4 comes with a compact electronics box, leaving little room for expansion. To upgrade my setup, I replaced the stock receiver with a Spektrum 6 channel unit that was too wide to fit inside the factory box. To accommodate this new component, I expanded the interior of the box by 4mm on all sides and increased its height to twice that of the original. This modification allows me to use the standard factory covers for both the wires and the top of the box, as well as the original gasket and screws. The wire foam from the old box can be carefully transferred to the new one and secured with 3M double-sided tape. The foam should fit perfectly in its new location. To ensure a smooth installation, I recommend drilling out the screw holes slightly to prevent any binding issues. With these adjustments, this upgraded electronics box should provide an exact replacement for the original unit. While it may not be completely waterproof, it should come close to meeting factory specifications. I've only tested it in dry conditions and haven't fully submerged it in water.
