I've once assumed the damper problematic. Too high breakaway torque. This is caused by the fact that the lower damper cap squeezes the X-rings too much. Was a simple, yet brilliant idea! Some of you go and sharpen the ring between the two X-rings. It's working. Disadvantages: You have to disassemble the damper (screw rod end of the piston rod) and grind the ring exactly flat. Others go and turn the lower cap just looser... It works. Disadvantage: No control if the cap continues to spin. If it's stupid, the mutes run empty. Now my solution: I once measured a bit, drew a C-clip, which comes between lower damper and damper housing. Thus, less pressure on the seals, and the breakaway torque is substantially reduced.
