Traxxas Slash Rx Box
thingiverse
I've been converting a long-running project to a 2WD Slash for months now. Unable to find an Rx box from local sources, I decided to design and print my own. It bolts down on stock mount holes and holds any Rx unit imaginable. A holder for the antenna tube is also included. This design is by no means waterproof. I didn't bother working that out, and honestly don't need it to be. Adding shoe goop around the antenna tube and wire slot could easily seal it. The cover needs to be printed with supports, using standard M3x16 ~ M3x20 cap screws to bolt it down. This design is based on the Slash LCG chassis but should fit any part that uses the same components in theory. UPDATE: I've uploaded a new version of the top with 0.5mm clearance around the perimeter for easier fitting. UPDATE 2: New versions of the top and bottom have been added, correcting an error in the alignment of outer bosses connecting the lid to the base. Everything should now print and fit perfectly. UPDATE 3: After installing my last revision, I decided I wasn't satisfied with certain parts of the design. A V2 is now available in the files section, featuring a smaller size and different lid fit. It's the version I'll be using, and I don't see making any further changes to it at this point. UPDATE 4: The V2 top has undergone a small change. This is as far as I'm concerned with the design now. A minor addition provides some protection against moisture entering around the antenna tube. After bashing a dozen packs through my Slash with this Rx box in place, it's the only part that still bothers me. Again, this is not waterproof; however, it is fairly effectively water-resistant. With shoe goop, you could easily make it watertight, but I don't see the point. For running through mud, snow, or light rain, I've had zero issues with water getting in.
