Traxxas Rustler 4x2 and 4X4 Paddle Tire and Rim
thingiverse
***UPDATE 5*** I have created a new set of paddle tires for my Traxxas Rustler, with a third iteration that is designed to be even more aggressive. ***UPDATE 4*** I made another set of paddles that are smaller and more numerous than the previous ones. They still manage to dig into the ground like crazy and throw sand or gravel up to 30 feet in the air. These things are incredibly effective at digging into the ground, and I've captured it on video in a slow-motion clip taken in fine sand. You can see the results for yourself by checking out this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6sBfT2_HoY My son wanted monster paddle tires for his Traxxas Rustler 4x4 and 4x2 trucks, so I designed and printed a set of them. This was my first time printing with TPU, and it didn't go smoothly - the prints were full of blobs and drips due to zero retraction. But now that he has his tires, I'm trying again with 3mm retraction and 1.5mm glide. If this works out better, I'll be sure to update this post. The rims take around 7 hours each to print, using Hatchbox PLA - they need support and have a pretty beefy design. I've printed them with 6 layers on top and bottom, 3 perimeters, and 40% gyroid infill. I'd rather they be a bit heavy than break easily. The paddle sleeves take around 13 hours each to print, but don't need any support. They have 4 layers on top and bottom, 2 perimeters, and 20% hexagon infill.
