Traxxas Nitro Stampede E-conversion Kit
thingiverse
I decided to convert my trusty old RC Nitro Stampede Truck to electric. I'll miss the distinctive sound and intoxicating smells of nitro, but the Stampede is absolutely a force to be reckoned with after this electrifying conversion. I've yet to see this truck pop a wheelie while already moving at ~20 MPH. The speed and agility are a thrill to behold. To determine the ideal pinion size, I calculated based on my nitro's setup. For instance, my Nitro engine was rated 28000 RPM and had a 22T, so I applied this ratio to calculate the new pinion size. For a 2S battery: 8.4V * 4000KV = 33600 RPM (28000 / 33600) * 22T = 18T For a 3S battery: 11.1V * 4000KV = 44400 RPM (28000 / 44400) * 22T = 14T Since I only have 3S batteries, I decided to use the 14T and it has been working great so far. I still need to measure the temps over a long run, but my quick measurements showed 140F-155F.
