Traxxas EZ Start Adapter
thingiverse
I get extremely frustrated when companies create products that only work with their own parts. I understand it's a good business strategy, but it still doesn't change the fact that it's infuriating. As an RC enthusiast who has been around for a long time, one company that consistently does this is Traxxas. I recently wanted to use one of their EZ start systems on a truck I was installing with a remote start system, but the problem was that the truck wasn't a Traxxas model. Instead of using the almost universal standard of a 12mm one-way bearing for the starting system, they used some sort of oval-shaped part with two flat sides. I initially thought about buying one of these one-way clutches from Traxxas, but then I discovered that they had changed the shaft size from 6mm to 8mm. This led me to create this adapter that fits a standard 12mm one-way bearing, solving this issue once and for all. I'd say corporate, the 21st century has given us the power of manufacturing at our fingertips. To print this adapter, use a resolution of .01mm so it's relatively smooth, with 100% fill - why not, since it's small? It helps to print two adapters at once to allow for more cooling between layers. You may need to sand them a little depending on your printer calibration, as the part has a very tight fit. Printer Settings: Brand: MakerBot Model: Replicator 2X Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: .01mm Infill: 100% Notes: The print time for two adapters with these settings is approximately 30 minutes.
