Traxxas Blue Eagle / Blue Eagle LS Steering Blocks
thingiverse
Front Knuckle/Spindle/Steering Block for a variety of Traxxas vintage vehicles (Blue Eagle, Hawk, Radicator, etc. - 1637). You will still need an axle, but it should get you pretty close. This is very close to the original design with only some very minor modifications. Ream the hinge pin hole with a 1/8" drill bit. Confirm that the hinge pin can pass through the hole (may require several passes to make sure it can slide in/out). Tap the mounting hole with a M3 tap and use M3 machine screws to attach the rod ends to the spindle. Given the nature of the 3D printed parts, I would recommend supporting on the back side with a thin jam nut to prevent it from backing out. The axle retention hole should fit most button head screws and it is fairly snug. Some light filing may be required around the screw hole after printing. You may need to align and use a vise or clamp to gently push the axle into the carrier. A 5 mm drill bit can be used to clean out the bore, but care should be taken not to damage the anti-rotation feature. UPDATE 04/07/23: While V1 was pretty close after checking the print, I have made some further tweaks to improve it. The carrier was updated to push the tie rod screw attachment point further out (~0.5 mm). The axle hole and anti-rotation feature was pretty tight in the original, so I have opened it up slightly (0.05 mm). This is probably within the margin of error for most printers, but should help a little bit with overall assembly. I also chamfered the back stop face slightly to improve/maximize steering. The round was also modified on the horn stop. I do not plan to do any further updates at this time.
