This compact holder secures two pre-threaded needles perfectly for travel. If your needles exceed 35mm in length, simply stretch the axis to accommodate them easily. To keep the needle in place, I tie a knot at the end, insert it into the tray and wrap it securely. This prevents it from unraveling, but if you need extra protection, just pop it into a small ziplock bag or use masking tape or Glad Wrap. For sewing buttons, I often use one darker thread color and one lighter thread color. When finished, simply cut the excess thread with something sharp, like a knife; at worst, run it against a rough surface, such as a brick edge.
