TRAV 2.1

Welcome new followers and transplants from the TRAV 2.0 build! This version was branched off due to a plethora of design changes that needed attention. The brand-new chassis boasts enhanced details and a significantly reduced footprint. Notably, all suspension parts have been revamped as well. Background: I initially built the original Trav (Terra Roving Autonomous Vehicle) back in 2015 using a hobby-grade RC electric 4x4 truck as its base. Objective: The primary goal is to create not only a fully functional rover but also one that can withstand rigorous crawling with friends. However, this task has proven more challenging than anticipated due to the notorious abuse crawlers endure and the diverse terrain they traverse, which encompasses mud, water, rock crawling, and everything in between. TRAV 2.1 will feature autonomous capabilities with obstacle avoidance as well as human control options with planned GPS support on the horizon. Its design takes inspiration from the NASA Curiosity Rover (minus its MMRTG power plant, of course!). This cutting-edge rover boasts independent 6-wheel drive and 4-wheel steering capabilities. It also features three distinct steering modes and a revolutionary rocker bogie suspension system. A powerful 3S battery will propel TRAV forward.
