The sea lily has many arms, the body is flower-like, and the surface has a calcareous shell. During the Carboniferous period, the crinoids were numerous and there were many varieties. Together with bryozoans and brachiopods, they formed a vast grassy cover on the seafloor, leaving behind many fossils. Later, due to the "Permian-Triassic extinction event", 90% of marine species became extinct, and crinoids also quickly retired from that stage of history. In addition to crinoids, fossil wood and ammonite fossils can also be found in this specimen. These different fossils can help us understand the ecological environment of the ocean at that time. This project is a collaboration between 'Buddhist Wong Fung Ling College' and 'dot 3D FACTORY' in Hong Kong. We hope to make fragile fossils available to every student with 3D replication technology. The fossil exhibits are owned by Mr Leung, a former student of BWFLC. To learn more: www.instagram.com/reel/CiElPcFgobA/ BWFLC website: www.bwflc.edu.hk dot 3D FACTORY website: www.dot3dfactory.com
