Trashrail 3000: The Super Cheap DIY Linear Rail System
thingiverse
I am developing an incredibly budget-friendly 3D printer, dubbed the "Trashfire 3000", and I have discovered that linear solutions for affordable printers often present a challenge in achieving accurate alignment, which can be quite costly. Therefore, I designed a linear rail mechanism utilizing F623 flange bearings, resulting in a remarkably low-cost build. Flat bar can be sourced for approximately one dollar per foot, while the F623 flange bearings are available on eBay at prices ranging from 20 to 40 cents each. A parametric SCAD file is included to enable users to experiment with or modify the sled as needed to achieve optimal functionality.
