Trash Compactor Knob

Trash Compactor Knob

My Maytag trash compactor knob snapped today, so I designed this replacement in Fusion 360. It looks like Maytag no longer sells trash compactors, and this model is from around 2014. I used PLA with graphene to make it stronger, but any PLA should work just fine since it doesn't take much stress. I printed it at 50% infill, but 20% would also be okay. After many prints, I found the best way to print it is with the post straight up and supports only on the bed. The face may look a little messy, but the alternatives are worse. Who actually looks at their trash compactor knob? Edit 7/22/19: The hollow shaft kept snapping off, so I tried annealing, which lasted a bit longer. But I finally redesigned the shaft to be solid from top to bottom. I uploaded the new file as KnobSolid.stl. Edit 3/8/20: It's still breaking, but it lasts much longer now. I recommend rotating the knob 45 degrees along the handle axis and adding a raft and supports. Point the shaft slightly upwards at 45 degrees like a tank barrel, and the supports should only touch the face near the edge for a cleaner look.
