trash compactor key/knob

I own a trash compactor operated by a plastic key/knob. Without this key/knob, the unit is completely non-functional. The initial replacement cost me $70. Five years of normal usage later, it broke down. I mentioned to my wife that I could easily print a new one, but she suggested using my printer to good advantage and recouping some of the money I had already spent.
