Intrigued by shafting without gears I first made a working model of the Unique 1884 Patented Almond Coupling For Shafting. Check out here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3413776 Then I discovered a beautifully designed **three axes** design on GrabCAT by Nal Check out here: https://grabcad.com/library/transmission-between-three-shafts-transmission-entre-trois-axes-1 For sure this is a fictional transmission and you can animate everything but I want to check out if it would actually work so I made this 3D printable proof of concept. Surprise surprise it functions! It's mesmerizing to watch and study the movements. Also I try to make it look nice and easy to hold on. You can easily open and close the Carter. Maybe this is a nice object for students to work out al the different loads en forces. The print is not that hard. Please note the the pistons had to be printed inside the crank. It is a print in a print. In your slicer program position the piston upright (on the flat spot) in the middle of the crack. There should be enough clearance in the design for most printer setups. Have fun with it. Please give likes share makes and let me know if use it for education purpose.
