The Transit wreck, a maritime disaster that struck in 1842, is now commemorated by a plinth at the Western Australian Maritime Museum on Rottnest Island. The plinth stands on the very site where the Transit met its fate on Duck Rock, a somber reminder of the tragedy that unfolded. Recently, volunteers from the Maritime Archaeological Association of Western Australia, part of maawa.net, visited the wrecksite as part of their fieldtrip to Rottnest Island over the weekend of March 2nd, 2019. The team's efforts included cleaning the plaque, ensuring it remains an enduring tribute to the Transit's history.
