Transformers Unicron Vertical Stand
thingiverse
The Transformers Armada Unicron toy is designed to sit flat on a table, but can't stand upright on its own. I created this stand so it can display in an upright position and tower above smaller toys. The stand's design allows for vertical display while maintaining stability. I also created a shorter version of the stand available online. Most of this stand is printable, but it requires a 5/16 steel rod for central support. A 5.75" to 6.5" rod length works without making the stand too top-heavy. Steel rods can be purchased at most home improvement stores like Menards, Lowes, Home Depot, or Ace Hardware. I printed this with 15% infill and it worked fine, but increasing infill will also increase rigidity in arms and the holder that Unicron rests on. The holder must be printed with support to avoid any issues. You can print the holder in a different orientation, hiding supports on top where Unicron rests. This makes supports invisible from both sides, but takes twice as long to print. The arms fit tightly into the arm connector's t-slots. If your printer over-extrudes, it may be difficult to fit them together without sanding. I was able to press-fit them together by hand due to tight tolerances that maintain good support with the central rod of the stand. I printed the object shown in PLA Plus. PLA is recommended for rigidity in the holder where most of Unicron's weight is balanced. PETG might work, but would have slightly more flexibility.
