Transformers gun with interchangeable barrels
thingiverse
Yet another transforming gun joins the ranks of robot vehicles/action figures featuring hands and body mounts with 5mm holes that can accept 5mm pegs on accessories, which fit perfectly in place. This particular gun was inspired by the "nose gun" found elsewhere online, but I've taken it a step further by separating the barrel from the gun body, with plans to add various optional barrels at some point. The threaded end of the barrel features a narrow hole that could have allowed the inner barrel to pass right through, but I decided to leave a small pilot hole so it can be drilled out after printing if needed. The barrel itself is 5mm in internal diameter, while the 5mm peg hole in the back of the handle measures 5.05mm in diameter - just slightly oversized, which works well for me once shrinkage occurs. The thread has a 1mm pitch and spans around 8mm, but it's not an ISO metric thread; rather, I've designed a custom thread that you can easily replicate or modify to fit your needs. If you're interested in creating additional barrel or handle designs to fit this gun, simply copy and tinker with the Tinkercad model to extract the threaded part(s). If you create extra barrels or handles, I'd love to see them! I've added a few more barrels to the mix - a nod to 70s British SciFi and a classic-ish ray gun.
