Transformers COMBINER WARS Superion Foot

These are ball jointed feet for your Combiner Wars or other 5mm peg compatible Transformers gestalts. They're designed specifically for Superion, but feel free to use them as you see fit. The design principle is the same as my Defensor foot. You'll need a balljoint from here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1141811. Below, I've posted the description I made for the Defensor foot. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the print-outs. There may be some flaws in the design as well, so feel free to report them or suggest corrections. This is an older design; unfortunately, I lost the rest of them along with my hard drive. It's depicted in pictures as a right Superion foot, but you'll need to figure out the others from the renders. The foot comprises two modules: the foot body and a ball joint module, which are separate so you don't have to discard the entire thing if the peg breaks. You can also use it in your own foot designs. A few tips: * The ball joint is a tricky print; I've cut off the top to make it easier to print (peg facing up), and this should eliminate supports, stringing, and scarring. Print with 100% infill and PLA. * For the sphere, print without fans as they'll cause the layers to curl up. If necessary, print slower (I print mine at 30-40mm/s). * This will result in bigger filament flow, making the ball slightly larger. That's why I've included three sizes of balls: 14.8, 14.7, and 14.6. Choose the one that fits best. Once you've finished the sphere, turn the fans on full to get a smooth peg. Print one object at a time to avoid stringing and scarring. When assembling the ball joint, be advised that it needs to be smoothed or sanded slightly before you squeeze it into the socket. I do this by placing the ball in a battery drill and rotating it against a sanding sponge. Aim for a small gradient; there's no need to smooth the socket inside as long as the ball and socket are even. The ball should fit snugly in the socket with only a little force applied – if you need to push it hard or even use a Combiner Wars figure port, that means the ball still needs some filing down. Try printing all balls and finding the best result for your printer and filament. Note: If you make the joints too tight or try to force a jammed joint using a Combiner Wars figure port, you're likely to damage the port in your figure! It's better to print all balls, smooth them out, and do socket fitting tests starting from the smallest one. Depending on your printer quality, you may also want to smooth the sides of the socket module and the socket it goes into in the foot body. It should go in with some friction, but excess friction will make it difficult to remove if something breaks. To get it out, simply take one of your damaged ball joint sockets (don't worry – I destroyed 20 or 30 before I got this working!). The ball joint should provide enough friction to pose the gestalt on one foot only (although you may have a problem with the other original joints collapsing). As for printing the foot itself, it's up to you; I print at 0.8 mm shell and 10% infill, with the perimeter printed after infill and "one at a time". I hope you enjoy this!
