To enhance the print's stability, adjust the printer width so that the uppermost layer is stronger. Watch this partial print video for reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQxoFgpTDlU. I created it using my MakerGear Prusa Mendel (http://www.makergear.com/). Printing at .4 fill resulted in a super sturdy product; try .25 fill for an even better top layer, as seen in the updated image.
