I want to move that ergometer without having to disconnect and reconnect the transformer every time - it's just too much hassle to go back and fetch it again. You'll lose a significant portion of the maximum cable length, but for me, it's worth leaving a 230V extension cord nearby where I can easily access it near the TV.
