Trammel of Archimedes
thingiverse
This Trammel of Archimedes model was made from scratch after viewing a printed version, presumably Thing 5103. It features v2 with filleted corners for easier holding and an elliptical path that barely misses the guide. The design is created using Alibre software. When printing raftless with ABS, it's essential to avoid the bottom layer being flattened too large for the slot; otherwise, surgery may be required. The original STL files are available for printing. The model exhibits smooth motion when printed with PLA, as seen in this YouTube video. To assemble, follow these instructions: 1) Print using settings of 0.2mm layers, 'fine,' and solid/loose fill; 2) Slide the sliders into place; 3) Attach the arm to the sliders; and 4) Use the tool during long meetings. The sliders have a 2.4 hole for M3 threaded screws with thumbscrew attachment, although tapping may not be necessary.
