Training knife
thingiverse
Being a training knife was needed for a class, I decided to create one myself instead of buying one. I designed it after my folding knife, which I've had for years. To make sure the blade couldn't cause any harm, I deliberately made it thicker and duller than usual. Please keep in mind that this knife is not intended for actual use, so don't try to fight with it or anything like that. I've attached two versions of the design file: one complete version, and another broken down into two parts - the blade and the handle. I had to print the model in stages because my printer can only handle a certain level of infill at a time. For this reason, I set the infill to 30% for the blade and 20% for the handle. As it turned out, the lower percent infill didn't provide enough support for the blade, so I had to add some extra support to it since it's printed standing up and has a slight angle. The finished product is quite long - about 9.5 inches overall. I used 123D Design to create the design file.
