Trailer rubber bung
thingiverse
I have a trailer with a tilt function, eliminating the need to remove it from the tow hook. Of course, you can still tilt any trailer after detaching it from the hook, but it's safer and more secure to handle its weight while it remains attached to the hook. When tilted, however, there are no protective feet to shield the steel tubes from scraping against the tarmac, resulting in a nasty scratching sound that prompted me to take action last time I used it. If left unchecked, the zinc plating could become damaged and the entire system would begin rusting sooner than necessary. To address this issue, I took matters into my own hands. I created a bung specifically designed for a 40mm x 40mm tube with a 2.5mm wall thickness. The central hole allows rainwater to drain out of the tube, preventing it from accumulating and causing rust. I made sure the hole was large enough to facilitate adequate airflow, ensuring that the tube dries quickly and efficiently.
