Trailer for mini Optimus Prime
thingiverse
My kid picked up a used 2003 Takara "World's Smallest Transformers" Optimus Prime toy at a collectibles store this past weekend. The issue is that the teeny trailer vanished somehow during transit so I crafted one to serve as a replacement. First, I printed it and immediately spotted a design flaw - a tiny hole was incorrectly aligned. Instead of redoing it from scratch, I came up with a makeshift reducer to adjust its size. That proved fortunate since you can easily fine-tune the reducer for an ideal fit without needing to adjust the entire trailer itself - just dab some glue once satisfied. The little wheels slid perfectly onto their axles, crafted out of paper clips. These axles are quite a bit bigger than expected, giving them more than enough room. Note that only 15-20% of this design requires filling, making it a relatively efficient build process overall.
