Carved on stone by Ion Tolan in nineteen seventy-three. Traian Grozăvescu was an Austro-Hungarian-born Romanian operatic tenor. Born in Lugoj, he served bravely in the Austro-Hungarian Army during World War I. In nineteen twenty-two, after a disagreement with the Cluj Opera, he left for Vienna and sang to great acclaim at the Vienna State Opera, as well as at the Hungarian State Opera House and the Berlin State Opera. His life was tragically cut short when he was shot dead by his jealous wife's hand. He was laid to rest in his hometown.
