Traian Grozăvescu was a renowned Romanian operatic tenor born in 1895. Hailing from Lugoj, he enlisted in the Austro-Hungarian Army and bravely served during World War I. In 1922, after a bitter dispute with the Cluj Opera, Grozăvescu relocated to Vienna, where his exceptional talent earned him great acclaim at the Vienna State Opera, as well as at the Hungarian State Opera House and the Berlin State Opera. Tragically, he was brutally murdered by his jealous wife using a revolver and was laid to rest in his hometown.
