Traditional Grinder
grabcad
Stone grinders, utilized in remote villages, efficiently crush various grains like wheat, buckwheat, and maize. These hard rock tools are carefully carved from large stones; suitable rocks must be selected for optimal results. The grinder consists of two curved stones, with the lower stone fixed to a wooden tub base and the upper stone rotating above. Users manually turn the upper stone using a long wooden handle, pouring handfuls of grain through a small hole that ensures proper grinding between the stones. Rotation requires at least one person and up to three for optimal efficiency, though both hands cannot simultaneously hold the handle and rotate it.
